Had the privilege to shoot a fantastic girl recently who has succeeded in male-dominated world to be a pilot with one of the UK’s most progressive airlines, Flybe. Check out the great article in the Mail Online today about newly qualified pilot Kate Moran, who is one of only a handful of female pilots in the country.

CARDEN’S Residential and Students@Cardens celebrated 20 years in business this year, and to mark it the property agency raised money for two local good causes – two Adams – at its celebratory ball at Reed Hall, Exeter University.
The first Adam to benefit from the fundraising activity was Adam Pengelly, a 12-year old from Stoke Canon who suffers from cerebral palsy and who is in need of an operation to improve his life. Adam, who attends Uffculme School, would dearly love to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a keen footballer and cricketer, something which his cerebral palsy currently denies him. There is an operation available that could dramatically improve his quality of life and give him maximum mobility for his teenage and adult years. At present the operation has not been made available to him free of charge in the UK, so funds need to be raised to pay for travel to and treatment in the USA.
The second Adam is the Adam Stansfield Foundation, which was set up by the family of former Exeter City FC player Adam Stansfield to promote awareness of bowel cancer and to support the promotion of community participation in healthy activities for young people in the South West. Adam was a local man who became a professional football player later in life than most, going on to play for Yeovil Town, Hereford and Exeter City. He played his last game for the Grecians in March 2010: sadly he died of bowel cancer in August 2010 at the age of just 31, leaving a wife and three young sons.
Jon Carden, managing director at Cardens, said: “We wanted to mark our 20th anniversary by supporting two local causes that are dear to our hearts. I grew up with Adam Pengelly’s Dad and we have seen the challenges he and his family have had to face in recent years. An operation for Adam would make all the difference to his quality of life, not just now but in the future, which is why we want to raise money for that.”
Jon continued: “We have always been supporters of Exeter FC, both personally and corporately, and we took great pleasure in seeing Adam Stansfield play for our local side. His untimely death was a tragedy for the club and the city and we firmly believe that the courage his family has shown in setting up the Adam Stansfield Foundation deserves as much support as possible.”
Funds for both causes were raised at the ball held on 28th April at Reed Hall to celebrate Cardens’ 20th anniversary. Donations can also be made at the Cardens offices on Longbrook Street.
MAN of many talents, inventor and designer of the Sinclair C5, Tony Wood Rogers was in front of my camera this morning.
I shot him with the brand-new Renault Twizy, the latest electric concept car. It turned a few heads as I followed it down a Devon country lane. External suspension, one front seat, a small passenger seat behind, it echoed the famous C5 Tony designed.
And as if being a pioneering designer was not enough, he is also an musical expert; when I arrived he was giving his son-in-law a few tips on playing the blues on his concert grand piano.
Looking forward to reading the full interview with him in the Echo this week.
